Hey Lovatics: Demi Lovato is dishing on her next single, and her choice is the antithesis of her lead Unbroken track, the empowerment ballad “Skyscraper.”
When MTV News caught up with Lovato as she celebrated her album’s release, she revealed that she’s chosen the flirty dance track “Who’s That Boy” as her next radio single, which features Dev and boasts production and writing from Ryan Tedder, Noel Zancanella and Devin Tailes. Demi is certainly having fun on the song, on which she sings lines like “I’ve been staring at ya/ And I could do it all night/ You’re looking like an angel/ With the kind of body that needs a spotlight.”
“We’re in the middle of getting the treatment and things put together,” Lovato said of her next music video. “So hopefully we’ll be shooting that soon.”
The song is certainly a more grown-up side of the 19-year-old, but she said she’s not ready to grow up too much. “I think it’s grown-up, but it’s not too grown-up,” Lovato told us about Unbroken. “It’s not tasteless. It’s growing up with my fans. It’s [like] I’m not a kid anymore, but I’m also not a full-grown woman either. So I’m in that in-between stage, trying to figure out where that is. So I’m figuring it out, just like my fans are.”
Now that the album is out, Lovato said she doesn’t really know what’s next. “We don’t know what the tour plans are next, but hopefully I’ll be touring soon,” she said. “I’m looking forward to kind of just finding out what’s next. I don’t know what’s next — if it’s a movie, if it’s touring, I don’t know. We’ll find out.”

Demi Lovato proclaimed her inner strength on the emotional power ballad, “Skyscraper,” the lead single off her album, Unbroken, which drops later this month. The track immediately connected with her fans, who have stuck by her side over the last year as she’s battled personal issues.
Their support of the track, Lovato explained to MTV News last week, has given her newfound strength as she sets out to launch the next phase of her bustling music career. “When the song came out, it went #1 on iTunes instantly and it was so surprising to me,” she said at a fan meet-and-greet in Los Angeles, where Lovatics lined up for blocks to meet Demi. “I wasn’t expecting that at all. It’s been such a whirlwind, and I’ve been so blessed and so thankful for it.”
In “Skyscraper,” Lovato confronts her issues — the ones for which she sought treatment last fall — because, she said, she wanted to keep her fans in the loop about her growth as a person.
“I’ve been pretty honest,” she said. “My whole journey has been about telling my story and hoping that when I share my story, it inspires somebody. So, when I decided to come out with a single that was honest and about my journey and about standing strong and tall like a skyscraper, I hope that it inspired people.
“I thought that there was a bigger opportunity for me to come out with a song that would inspire people, rather than it be just another dance song on the radio,” she added.
Sure, “Skyscraper” has a message, but there are also some fun tracks on the album, Demi promises, including her Missy Elliott/Timbaland collabo, “All Night Long.”
“The song that Missy and I did together, Timbaland’s actually on it, too, and it’s fun,” she said. “It’s about staying up all night long and singing it to the boy that you like, and it’s flirty and fun and it’s not too grown-up, but it’s grown-up enough.”
Lovatics and Gleeks rejoice! Demi announced that she will be collaborating with Chord Overstreet!
Skyscraper songstress Demi Lovato has rebuilt her self image, and is now working on diversifying her talents as an artist! The Disney starlet just revealed that she will be working on new music with Glee alum Chord Overstreet!“In the studio writing with @chordoverstreet
” tweeted Demi on Sept. 1.
We couldn’t be more excited that Demi is back in the studio and is working on overcoming her personal insecurities, but adding the New Directions blonde hottie to the mix makes the whole deal a lot sweeter! We’re used to seeing Chord belt out popular show tunes and top 40 beats, and we’re dying to know what he will contribute to Demi’s album, especially because she said she’s leaning to more R&B style jams.
We think they have potential to create some beautiful melodies and can’t wait to see what Chord is capable of, now that he is slowing down his work with Glee!
Demi Lovato has announced her first concert dates after taking time off for personal issues.
Lovato tweeted that she will be playing at The Hammerstein Ballroom on September 17 and Club Nokia on September 23. Her new album, Unbroken, drops September 20.
She told Ryan Seacrest that the shows are all about her fans, aka Lovatics.
“These shows are basically thanking my fans for being so supportive throughout this entire journey,” she said. “This is the first time that I will be on stage in about a year. I am already so excited and can’t wait to see everyone out there in the audience.”
According to the singer’s Twitter account, the shows will be quite the production.
“It’ll be a big show!” she tweeted.
It will just be Lovato for the two nights, as there will not be an opening act and she will have choreography. Tickets go on sale Thursday for members of her fan club and Friday for the public.

At the start of 2011, Timbaland expressed his interest in working with pop singer/actress Demi Lovato. In a video message to Lovato posted on his YouTube channel on January 9, the producer talked about how impressed he is with Lovato’s voice (“You are amazing, girl. I’m like…not an easy person to please, and I’m very impressed.”) and even played a snippet of an unfinished demo he produced and penned for her with a couple friends.
Well, Tim is finally getting his wish.
Demi confirmed on her Twitter page that the two will hook up in a Miami recording studio tonight (July 25) to get down to work. “…Going into the studio with @Timbaland.. You guys ready?!” she tweeted.
No word yet on if Timbaland and Demi will record the song he wrote in January or if they’ll get busy on a whole new track, but all parties involved are beyond excited. “4 this demi and timbo duet yall really need 2 thank my brother @darealsebastian and @byrd757 4 makin this happen. now lets make history,” Tim tweeted.
Demi is currently hard at work wrapping up her as-yet-untitled third album, due in stores on September 20.
